Terms of Service & Community Guidelines

Version 1.4

Last updated: 13 September 2026

Nalgo (“we”, “us”) is operated by Ethan Toushek and Thomas Gaudet. By creating a Nalgo account you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account.

1. Who can use Nalgo

You must be at least 17 years old. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 17, we delete it.

Nalgo carries direct messaging and user-generated content, and we have set the age this high deliberately: we would rather not admit younger teenagers than admit them before the safety and moderation tooling around them is where it should be. If that changes, we will lower it and say so here.

If you are in a country where the minimum age for consenting to data processing is higher than 17, you must be at least that age.

2. Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including everything posted from it. Keep your password to yourself. One person, one account. Tell us at nalgosupport@gmail.com if you believe someone else has accessed your account.

3. Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store your content and display it to the people your post is addressed to — the public feed, a community, a Niche, or one other person in a direct message. This licence exists so that we can operate the service, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.

Share links. Any Nalgo user can create a web link for a public community post — yours or anyone else's — and send it to someone who does not use Nalgo. Anyone who opens that link can read that one post without an account; they cannot reply, see other posts, see your profile, or reach anything else. This is possible because a community post is already readable by every signed-in Nalgo user. Treat such a link as public: anyone it is forwarded to can open it too. If someone links your post and you would rather they had not, you can revoke that link. Deleting the post, or switching it out of the public feed, also stops every link to it working. Inner Circle posts, Niche posts, and direct messages cannot be linked this way at all.

Only post content that is yours to post, or that you have permission to share.

We remove or disable content when we receive a valid notice, and we tell the person who posted it. If they believe it was removed by mistake, they can reply with a counter-notice and we will consider restoring it. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe others’ copyright.

4. Community Guidelines — zero tolerance for abuse

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users on Nalgo. Do not post, send, or share:

5. Reporting and enforcement

Every post, comment, chat message, and user can be reported from inside the app. Reports go to a moderation queue reviewed by our team, and we aim to act on them within 24 hours.

Some content is refused before it is ever published: the app screens messages for sexual content involving minors and for slurs, and will not send them.

When something breaks these guidelines we may, depending on severity and history:

Severe violations — child sexual abuse material, credible threats of violence — skip the ladder and result in immediate permanent suspension, and are referred to the relevant authorities. We report child sexual abuse material to Canada’s national tipline, Cybertip.ca, or to the police, as the law requires.

When we remove reported content, we keep a private copy as part of our moderation records, including where the law requires us to preserve it. It is not visible to anyone except our moderators.

If you believe we got it wrong, you can appeal from inside the app and a person will look at it again.

6. Blocking

You can block any user. A block is mutual and immediate: neither of you sees the other's posts, comments, or messages, and neither can send the other a direct message.

7. Notifications

Nalgo can send push notifications to your device for direct messages and for friend requests. They are off until you turn them on in Settings, where you can also turn either type off on its own, and you can switch them off entirely in your device settings at any time.

A notification may show who contacted you and the opening of their message, so it can appear on your lock screen. Delivery depends on Apple and Google, who operate the push services your device is connected to, and on your network — we cannot promise a notification will arrive, or arrive promptly. Do not rely on them for anything time-critical.

8. Things you may not do to the service

Do not scrape it, reverse-engineer it, attack it, interfere with its operation, access accounts that are not yours, or use it to build a competing dataset. Do not use automated means to create accounts or post content.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Account Settings. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, posts, comments, and messages.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these Terms. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

10. No warranty, and limits on liability

Nalgo is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it, without regard to conflict of law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the courts of the Province of Ontario. If you live somewhere else, this does not take away any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of your own country.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. If we make a material change we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and update the version and date at the top of this page.
