This page explains how to delete your Nalgo account and what happens to your data when you do. Nalgo is operated by Ethan Toushek and Thomas Gaudet. If anything here is unclear, write to nalgosupport@gmail.com.
Deleting from inside the app
This is the fastest way, and it takes effect immediately:
- Open Nalgo and sign in.
- Go to Profile.
- Open Account Settings.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
You are signed out as soon as the deletion goes through. There is no waiting period and no separate confirmation email — once you confirm, it is done.
Deleting without the app
If you cannot sign in, or you have already removed the app, email nalgosupport@gmail.com from the address on the account with the subject Delete my account. We use the address you write from to identify the account, so please send it from that address. If you cannot, tell us the handle you used and we will work out another way to confirm it is yours before deleting anything.
We respond within 30 days.
What is deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes, from our servers:
- Your profile — handle, display name, avatar, and bio.
- Your account credentials, including your email address and date of birth.
- Your posts and comments.
- Photos and videos you uploaded.
- Your likes, communities, and Niche memberships.
- Your friend and Inner Circle connections.
- Your direct messages, both sent and received.
This cannot be undone. We cannot restore a deleted account.
What is kept, and why
- Moderation records. A report submitted about an account is kept even after that account is deleted, and so is the content it concerns. Otherwise anyone could erase a record of their behaviour by deleting and re-registering. These are kept for two years after deletion.
- Backups. Deletion applies to our live systems immediately. Any backups containing your data are retained for up to 30 days before being overwritten.
- Messages other people received from you. Your side of a conversation is removed. We do not alter the copy already delivered to someone else's device.
